Getting started to remove CO2 from the air
The Carbon Neutral Initiative’s goal is to combat climate change. Our way to contribute is by removing CO2 from the air. We cannot do that alone. Will you help us?
Why?
Completely greening our society by 2050 is not enough to maintain the temperature rise between 1.5 and 2 degrees, the objective of the Paris agreement. We will also have to make an effort to remove CO2 from the air. In 2050, annually an incredible amount of 10 Gigatons should be removed.
Olivine is one of the promising options
One of the promising possibilities is the use of olivine. Under the right conditions, olivine binds CO2 and one ton of olivine has the potential to bind 1.25 tons of CO2. The weathering of olivine is a completely natural process. Olivine only needs to be scattered and nature will do the rest. Every year, nature already ensures 2 billion tons of CO2 binding in this way.
Everything starts with ambition!
The challenge humanity faces is immense and without ambition we will get nowhere. The Carbon Neutral Initiative has set itself the goal of removing 1 Gigaton of CO2 from the air by 2030. We do this with citizens, but also with companies. For example, take a look at our projects or contact us. Join us too!
